Return invoices through Credit Notes.

When to Use a Credit Note

Use a Credit Note when:

  • A customer returns items from an Invoice

  • An invoice was issued with incorrect quantities or prices

  • A refund needs to be issued

  • An adjustment must be made to the invoice total

Creating a Credit Note from an Invoice

To return items from an invoice, create a Credit Note directly from that invoice.

Steps

1. Open the Invoice you want to return.

2. Click Credit Note.

3. Enter the Date and Description (if needed) and click the Create Credit Note button.

4. From here, you can adjust the quantities or items that should be returned.

The Credit Note contains the same line items as the original Invoice.

Editing a Credit Note

Steps

  1. Open the Credit Note document.

  2. Update the required fields or line items.

  3. Submit the document.

Processing Payments for Credit Notes

Credit Notes can also be used to process financial adjustments.

Possible actions include:

  • Applying the credit to another invoice

  • Issuing a refund

  • Adjusting the customer balance

The system updates the financial records automatically.

Voiding a Credit Note

If a Credit Note was created by mistake, it can be voided.

Steps

1. Open the Credit Note.

2. Select Void.

3. Confirm the action.

Result

  • The Credit Note becomes inactive.

  • Financial and inventory effects are reversed.
