Pavilion supports barcode scanners to quickly read and input customer ID document data. This feature applies to ID documents, such as driver's licenses, issued by the US and Canada. You can use this functionality when:
Adding a new customer directly from the Customers tab.
Quickly adding a new customer from the POS.
Editing an existing customer's information.
Refer to the two interactive guides below for more information.
Make sure to scan the correct barcode. Data is stored in the bigger barcode at the back of the ID:
Sometimes, there is a smaller one, don't scan it:
💡Your barcode scanner has to support the PDF barcode format. We recommend the Honeywell 1470g model.
Adding a New Customer via ID Scanner
1. Open the Customers tab.
2. Click the Scan ID button in the top right.
3. Use your scanner to scan the data from the ID.
Tip: Scanning may take time depending on your scanner model. Ensure the scan is complete before proceeding.
4. The Customer ID info should appear automatically, the code consists of letters, numbers, or both. Click Next.
5. Check the extracted data and make adjustments if needed.
6. Click Save.
Using ID Scanner in the POS
1. Click New Customer.
2. Click the Scan ID button at the bottom left.
3. Scan the ID and click Next.
Updating Customer data with ID Scanner
1. Open the customer record you wish to update.
2. In the ID Document section, click Scan ID.
3. Use your scanner to scan the ID and click Next.
Tip: Scanning may take time depending on your scanner model. Ensure the scan is complete before proceeding.
5. Make sure to double-check the scanned data, then click Save.
