The Tag Layout Editor allows you to create and customize your own tag templates directly in Pavilion. This gives you control over how printed tags look, including what information appears on them and how it is arranged.
Accessing the Tag Layout Editor
1. Open Pavilion Settings from the App Launcher.
2. Select Tag Layout Editor.
If your organization has multiple templates, they will all be listed here. If only one template exists, you may see it listed as the default.
Viewing Tag Templates
After clicking Tag Layout Editor in Pavilion Settings, you will see the Tag Templates list.
This screen shows all existing tag templates in your organization. For each template, you can review:
Label: which is the display name of the template
Name: which is the internal template name
Size: showing the tag dimensions
Status: Indicates the current state of the template (e.g., Active, Inactive).
This view helps you understand which templates already exist before making any changes.
Managing Tag Templates (Edit, Delete and Clone)
From this list, you can take the following actions:
Click the template Label to open it for editing
Use the dropdown menu at the end of the row to access available actions for that template (Edit, Clone or Delete).
Click Add New to create a new tag template
This screen is the starting point for managing and editing all tag layouts.
Understanding Tag Templates
When a template is open, it is organized into two tabs that control different parts of the tag configuration.
Template Details
The Template Details tab contains the main settings for the tag template.
This tab is used to define and review the template’s configuration before adjusting its layout. Any changes made here apply to the template as a whole.
A preview of the tag is displayed on the right side of the screen.
You can use Preview with Item to load an inventory item into the preview, which helps you see how the template will render with actual item data.
Template Slots
The Template Slots tab is used to define what information appears on the tag and how it is arranged.
Each slot represents a single element placed on the tag. Slots can be added, selected, and adjusted within this tab.
When working with slots, you can:
Add new slots to the template
Link a slot to an available item field
Adjust the slot’s formatting and positioning
Move and resize slots directly in the preview area
The preview updates as you make changes, allowing you to visually adjust the layout.
To see realistic values in the preview, you can select an item using Preview with Item.
All slot related changes are applied to the current template and affect how tags are printed.
Review, Save, and Test Your Layout
As you make changes to the template, the preview updates to reflect the current layout.
All changes to the template are accumulated and applied together. Once you are finished adjusting the layout and slots, make sure to Save the template so your updates are preserved and used when printing tags.
Before using the template for regular printing, you can use Test Print to confirm the tag prints correctly with your selected printer.
