If a completed receipt has a mistake, you need to void the original receipt, reopen the sale, make the correction, and issue a new receipt.
This process keeps the original transaction history intact while allowing you to create a corrected receipt.
Void the original receipt
Open the related Sale, Job, Layaway, or Special Order.
Click the Receipts & Files tab.
Find the receipt with the mistake.
Click the dropdown menu next to the receipt.
Click Void.
When the confirmation window appears, click Yes.
The receipt is voided, and the related sale is reopened so you can make changes.
Correct the sale details
Go to the Details tab.
Find the sale line that needs to be corrected.
Click the dropdown menu next to the sale line.
Click Edit.
Make the needed changes, such as updating the price, discount, tax, or item details.
Click Save.
The sale remains open, and the updated details are ready to be added back to the POS.
Issue the corrected receipt
Click Add to POS.
In the POS, confirm the transaction details are correct.
Enter the original purchase date in the Transaction Date field, if needed.
If the item was picked up, select the Picked Up checkbox.
Add the correct payment.
Click Finish.
A new corrected receipt is created.
Why receipts need to be voided
Once a receipt is completed, the payment record cannot be directly changed through the original sale. Voiding the receipt cancels the original payment and reopens the sale so the sale details can be corrected.
After the corrections are made, the sale must be added back to the POS so the corrected payment can be collected and a new receipt can be issued.
