Use this process to configure a GoDEX G500 printer on a Windows computer using a USB connection.
Before you begin, make sure the printer is assembled, calibrated, and loaded with labels. If using thermal transfer tags, make sure the ribbon is installed.
⚠️ Do not install the GoDEX printer driver unless instructed to do so. Pavilion connects to GoDEX printers using a raw driver and does not require the official GoDEX driver for standard setup.
Connect the printer
Plug the USB cable from the printer into the Windows computer.
Make sure the printer is connected by USB only.
The LAN cable should be disconnected.
Turn on the printer.
Wait for Windows to finish setting up the device.
Do not install any printer drivers if Windows prompts you to do so.
Confirm the printer appears in Device Manager
This step is optional, but helpful if the printer is not recognized.
Open Device Manager.
Scroll to Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Confirm the printer appears as GoDEX G500.
If the printer appears as Unknown USB device, check the USB cable, confirm the printer is powered on, and reconnect the printer before continuing.
Add the raw printer manually
Open Printers & scanners.
Click Add device.
Wait until The printer that I want isn’t listed appears.
Click Add manually.
Select Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
Click Next.
Select Use an existing port.
Choose USB001: GoDEX G500 or a similar USB printer port.
Click Next.
Under Manufacturer, select Generic.
Under Printers, select Generic / Text Only or Generic / Raw, if available.
Click Next.
Name the printer GoDEX G500.
Click Next.
Choose Do not share this printer, unless your administrator instructs otherwise.
Click Finish.
Only install or uninstall the GoDEX driver if instructed
Most Pavilion setups do not require the official GoDEX driver. Only complete these steps if your administrator specifically tells you to.
