Use trade-ins when a customer brings in an item that will be credited toward a sale. Trade-ins are added through POS and can update inventory automatically once the transaction is finished.
Add a new trade-in item
Use this process when the customer is trading in an item that is not already in your inventory.
Open POS from the Utility Bar.
Enter Customer and Associate.
Click the dropdown arrow next to the POS action buttons.
Select Trade-In.
In the Title field, enter the item name.
In the Vendor field, select the vendor.
In the Unit Price field, enter the trade-in value.
In the Category field, select the appropriate category.
In the Tax field, select the tax status for the trade-in item, if needed.
Optionally, complete the following fields:
Internal Note
Description
Internal ID
Click Add to add the trade-in to POS.
To make changes after the trade-in is added, click the edit icon on the trade-in line item.
Update the trade-in details, then click Save. To discard your changes, click Cancel.
Complete the rest of the sale as usual.
When all required POS fields are complete, click Finish.
After the sale is finished, Pavilion creates the trade-in item and updates the inventory history.
Add a trade-in from existing inventory
Use this process when the customer is trading in an item that already exists in your store’s inventory.
⚠️ Only items with a Multi-Quantity pricing model can be selected for trade-ins from existing inventory.
Open POS from the Utility Bar.
Click the dropdown arrow next to the POS action buttons.
Select Trade-In.
In the Inventory Item field, search for and select the existing inventory item.
Review the prefilled item details.
Update any editable fields as needed. Depending on your permissions, this may include:
Title
Quantity
Unit Price
Tax
Description
Internal Note
Internal ID
Click Add to add the trade-in to POS.
To make changes after the trade-in is added, click the edit icon on the trade-in line item.
Update the trade-in details, then click Save. To discard your changes, click Cancel.
Complete the rest of the sale as usual.
When all required POS fields are complete, click Finish.
After the sale is finished, the trade-in adjustment appears in the Inventory Balances section of the item’s Activity tab.
