A card fee lets you add a payment processing fee to a POS order before completing the transaction. The fee is added as its own line item and is calculated from the current POS total.
Add a card fee in POS
Open the order in POS.
Click the dropdown menu at the bottom of the POS.
Select Card Fee.
In the Card Fee window, review or update the following fields:
Title: Defaults to Card Fee.
Fee %: The percentage used to calculate the fee.
Internal Note: Optional note for internal reference.
Click Add.
Review the card fee line item in POS.
Complete the transaction as usual.
ℹ️ Card fees are not taxed. You can only change the fee % before the item is saved. After it’s saved or returned, the fee is locked and will not update automatically.
How card fees are calculated
Pavilion calculates the card fee using this formula:
Fee amount = Fee % × base total ÷ 100
The base total includes:
The Pay Today amount for POS orders
Floating line items after discounts and taxes
The base total does not include other card fee line items.
