How do I calibrate the GoDEX G500 label printer?

Learn how to calibrate the GoDEX G500 label printer.

Calibrating the GoDEX G500 label printer helps it detect the correct label size, gap, or black mark between labels. Use this process if labels are skipping, feeding incorrectly, printing off-center, or printing misaligned text or barcodes.

Calibrate the GoDEX G500 printer

  1. Turn the printer off using the power switch on the back of the printer.

  2. Press and hold the Feed button on the front panel.

  3. While continuing to hold the Feed button, turn the printer back on.

  4. Keep holding the Feed button until the LED flashes red.

  5. Release the Feed button.

  6. Wait while the printer feeds several labels.

  7. Once the printer stops feeding labels, calibration is complete.

After calibration, the printer should be ready to print labels with the correct alignment.

Tips for successful calibration

  • Use the same label type you plan to print with.

  • Make sure the label gap sensor is aligned with the label gap or black mark.

  • Check the label path for dirt, adhesive buildup, or objects that could affect feeding.

  • Clean the thermal print head, rollers, and sensors regularly.

Adjust the sensor for barbell jewelry tags

Barbell jewelry tags do not have the gap centered under the printable area. Because of this, the label gap sensor must be repositioned before calibration.

For barbell tags:

  1. Move the gap sensor left or right so it aligns with the label gap or black mark.

  2. Do not leave the sensor centered under the printable area.

  3. Run the calibration steps again after adjusting the sensor.

If the sensor remains centered, the printer may feed labels incorrectly, skip labels, or print misaligned content.
