Hardware: GoDEX G500 Network Configuration

Part A: Checking the Existing Printer Configuration

💡If you already know your printer IP address and port, you can skip to Part B

Goal: We want to know the printer IP address and port number.

  1. Click on the Start button, then select Settings. In the Settings window, navigate to Bluetooth & devices (or Devices on some versions). Select Printers & scanners on the left pane. Locate the GODEX G500 Printer

  2. In the list of printers, find your GODEX G500 (it may appear under a different name if you used the Generic/Text Only driver). Click on the printer name (or right-click and select Printer properties if that option appears). Open Printer Properties

  3. In the Printer Properties dialog, navigate to the Ports tab. Under the Ports tab, look for the port that is checked. It should indicate a Standard TCP/IP Port or something similar. Click “Configure Port…”. Make a note of:

  • Printer IP Address or Hostname (e.g., 192.168.1.100).

  • The Port Name (e.g., 192.168.1.100).

  • Protocol (it should be Raw or LPR)

  • If “Raw” protocol is selected: Port Number (often Port 9100 for GODEX printers)

  • If “LPR” protocol is selected: Queue Name

Now you know the critical configuration information:

  • Printer IP Address (e.g., 192.168.1.100)

  • Port name (normally same as IP Address)

  • Protocol (Raw or LPR)

  • Raw Port Number (often 9100 for Raw printing) or LPR Queue Name

We will use this information to set up a printer on a new computer.

Part B: Adding the same Printer on Another Windows Computer

On the second Windows 11 computer, click Start → Settings. Go to Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners. Click “Add Device” Windows will start searching for printers. It may not find the printer automatically, so click on “Add manually” link once it appears.

Click “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings”

Choose to create a new port, select “Standard TCP/IP Port”

Enter printer IP address and port name (normally are the same)

⚠️Use the values you noted in the Part A!

Click “Next”, now the system will try to find that port:

When the next dialog appears, choose “Custom” device type and click “Settings”.

Enter Port Name, Printer Name, choose the Protocol and enter Port Number / Queue Name

⚠️Use the values you noted in Part A!

Click “OK” and “Next”

On the next screen choose a “Generic” Manufacturer on the left and “Generic / Text Only” printer on the right

Click “Next”. Give printer a “GODEX G500” name

⚠️Name should be exactly GODEX G500

Click “Save”. Don’t print a test page.

Now printer is connected to a computer. Next steps can be found here: QZ Tray Setup Guide.
