Hardware: GoDEX G500 USB Configuration (Windows)

⚠️ Before you begin:
The printer must be fully assembled, calibrated, and have both labels (tags) and a ribbon installed (if Thermal Transfer tags are used).
Follow the official manual below and GoDEX G500 Calibration Guide to prepare your device.

Do not install the GoDEX printer driver unless you are explicitly instructed to do so. Pavilion connects to GoDEX printers using its built-in raw driver and does not require the official driver.

If you have already installed the GoDEX driver, it may still function correctly. Please refer to the miscellaneous section at the end of this article for instructions on how to install or uninstall the driver if needed.

🖨 Step-by-Step USB Configuration (Generic / RAW Mode)

1. Connect the Printer

  • Plug the USB cable from the printer to your Windows PC.

  • Make sure that printer is ONLY connected by USB, LAN cable should be disconnected!

  • Turn on the printer.

  • Windows may show a notification like "Setting up device..." — let it complete, but do not install any drivers

2. (Optional) Make sure printer appears under Device Manager

Make sure the printer appears correctly in Device Manager. Open Device Manager, scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers, and confirm that the printer is listed as “GoDEX G500.” If it appears as “Unknown USB device,” the printer is not being recognized properly. In that case, check the USB cable, the printer’s power, and the connection, then try again before proceeding.

3. Add the Raw Printer Manually

  1. Open "Printers & scanners" tool, click "Add Device"

  2. Wait until the option “The printer that I want isn’t listed” appears, then click it and choose Add manually.

  3. Select Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings > Next.

  4. Choose Use an existing port and select USB001: Godex G500 (or similar).

  5. Click Next.

  6. Under Manufacturer, choose Generic.Under Printers, select: Generic / Text Only, or Generic / Raw (preferred if available). Click Next.

5. Name the Printer

  • Use something like: GoDEX G500

  • Click Next.

6. Complete Setup

  • Choose Do not share this printer unless needed.

  • Click Finish.

Do not print a test page.

  1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

  2. Look for any GoDEX software or drivers and uninstall them.

  3. Open Printers & scanners, right-click the GoDEX printer, and select Remove device.

  4. Restart your computer.
