Categories help organize inventory and control how products are configured in Pavilion. Category settings can affect product fields, pricing models, certificates, attributes, and synchronization behavior.
ℹ️ Note: If you don’t see Pavilion Settings in the App Manager, please contact your administrator.
Understand category fields
Common category fields include:
Field | Explanation |
Label | The user-facing category name. |
Name | The unique category identifier used for system or integration purposes. |
Description | Internal description for the category. |
Number | Unique category number used as a prefix for inventory SKUs. |
Tag Template | Overrides the default tag template for the category. |
Has Certificate | Adds a diamond or gemstone certificate picker to inventory items in this category. |
Has Bullion Certificate | Adds a bullion certificate picker to inventory items in this category. |
Allow Grouping | Allows inventory from this category to be added to product groups. |
Pricing Model | Defines how product pricing is calculated. |
Inventory Type | Assigns an inventory type used for synchronization, such as RapNet sync. |
Create a new category
Creating a new category from scratch is available, but cloning an existing category is usually recommended when the new category should use similar attributes or pricing tiers.
Open Pavilion Settings.
Click the Categories tab.
Click Add New.
Fill in the required fields.
Add any optional details, certificate settings, pricing settings, or inventory type settings.
Click Save.
Clone a category
Clone a category when you want to create a new category with the same attributes and pricing tiers as an existing category.
In the Categories section, locate the category you want to clone.
Click the dropdown icon next to the category.
Select Clone.
Fill in the required fields for the new category.
Click Save.
Edit a category
In the Categories section, locate the category you want to update.
Click the dropdown icon next to the category.
Select Edit.
Update the desired fields.
Click Save.
Delete a category
In the Categories section, locate the category you want to remove.
Click the dropdown icon next to the category.
Select Delete.
Confirm the deletion when prompted.
⚠️ Deleting a category may affect products associated with it. Ensure that the category you intend to delete does not have any related inventory items.
This action is irreversible.
Add attributes to a category
Open Pavilion Settings.
Click the Categories tab.
Select the category you want to update.
Go to the Linked Attributes section.
Click the dropdown arrow next to the Attribute..
Select Edit.
Choose the Appearance setting.
Fill in any additional fields if needed.
Click Save.
Assign a RapNet inventory type to a category
Use the Inventory Type field when a category needs to sync with RapNet or another inventory-type-based integration.
Open Pavilion Settings.
Click the Categories tab.
Select the category you want to update.
Click the Inventory Type dropdown.
Select the preferred inventory type.
Click Save.
