How do I create a product group?

Create a product group from the Product Groups list view, Inventory Item list view, or an Inventory Item record.

Use product groups to group similar inventory items into one shared product record. Product groups are useful when multiple items should appear together as one product, with variations such as size, metal color, or length.

Before creating a product group, review Product groups overview to understand how product groups and product variations work.

Before you start

Product group creation is available only for inventory items that meet the grouping requirements.

Inventory items must:

  • Belong to a category that allows grouping

  • Use a supported pricing model, such as Unique Item or Multi Quantity

If you do not see the expected category or grouping options, contact your Pavilion administrator.

Create a product group from the Product Groups list view

Use this option when you want to create a product group first, then add inventory items to it.

  1. Click the App Launcher.

  2. Search for Product Groups.

  3. Open Product Groups.

  4. Click New.

  5. Select Create New.

  6. Enter the Product Group name.

  7. Select the Category. The selected category determines which inventory items can be added to the product group.

  8. In the Items field, search for and select the inventory items you want to add.

  9. Review the generated Variations and Prices section.

  10. Edit variation prices if needed.

  11. Optional: Click Reset to Highest Price to set the variation price to the highest price among the inventory items in that variation.

  12. Click Save. The product group is created, and Pavilion creates product variations based on the selected items’ attributes.

Create a product group from an Inventory Item record

Use this option when you are already viewing an inventory item and want to start a product group from that item.

  1. Open the inventory item record.

  2. Confirm the item belongs to a category that allows grouping and uses a supported pricing model.

  3. Click Add to Group.

  4. Select Create New.

  5. Enter the Product Group name.

  6. Review the item and generated variation.

  7. Click Save.

The inventory item is added to a new product group.

After creating a product group

After the product group is created, you can continue managing it by:

  • Adding more items to the product group

  • Editing product variation prices

  • Adding or updating product variation images

  • Removing items from the group

  • Managing how the product group appears online
